WWE News: Steve Austin on Paul Heyman working for Vince McMahon, and his views on the current product
In an interview with Sports Illustrated, professional wrestling legend and WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin chimed in with his two cents on Paul Heyman serving as the Executive Director of RAW.
Austin had words of high praise for Heyman and insinuated that although the current WWE product, as well as Superstars, are impressive, there are always new ways to elevate the business.
The vast majority of professional wrestling fans, as well as experts, regard Steve Austin as one of the greatest pro wrestlers of all time.
Austin is considered by many to have been the biggest star of the “Monday Night Wars” i.e., the rating war between WWE and rival promotion WCW.

Austin explained that Paul Heyman is right for the role that he has currently been assigned in WWE and that the latter has a great vision of the pro wrestling business and what it should be.
Austin added that while WWE boss Vince McMahon keeps a watchful eye on Heyman’s work, and looks at the bigger picture; Heyman can focus specifically on RAW. Austin stated –
"Paul E. (Paul Heyman) is really close to the pulse of the product.”
“Paul E. is hungry to bring back this industry to its heyday. There is already more of a sense of urgency and importance of the world title."
Furthermore, Austin noted that emotions attract audiences and sell tickets. He continued that pro wrestling is built on characters, emotions, and depth.
Moreover, Austin emphasized that while the current crop of performers possesses excellent in-ring skills and athleticism, they need to find new ways of getting the fans to be invested in their characters.
