WWE News: Sting reveals when he decided to retire

WWE Hall of Famer Sting recently spoke with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, where he discussed several wrestling related topics, including when he decided to retire from Pro Wrestling as he opened up about the major decision that he had to make back in 2016.
In case you didn’t know…
Former WCW World Heavyweight Champion Sting made his WWE debut back in 2014 at the Survivor Series pay-per-view when he attacked WWE COO Triple H with a Scorpion Death Drop. Sting made his WWE in-ring debut at Wrestlemania 31 in a showdown against Triple H, which Sting eventually lost after interference from members of D-Generation X and New World Order.
Sting’s last Pro Wrestling match was against “The Architect” Seth Rollins at the Night of Champions pay-per-view in 2015, however, during the match Sting suffered a legitimate neck injury that forced him to retire from in-ring competition.
The heart of the matter
During his exclusive interview with Justin Barrasso, Sting stated that he didn’t know if he was going to make any kind of announcement regarding his retirement until he eventually made the announcement at the 2016 Hall of Fame ceremony.
Sting said, he was kind of going back-and-forth on the decision before he ultimately suffered that disastrous neck injury at the hands of Seth Rollins at Night of Champion, 2015, following which, “The Stinger” eventually decided to finalize his retirement and was determined to hand up his boots.
“I got hurt wrestling Seth, and the neurosurgeons and everybody [were] saying I needed surgery, and then I had trouble with cervical spinal stenosis, or whatever they call it, and there were two areas in my neck that were really messed up bad, although I don’t have any pain or side-effects.”- Sting stated.
What’s next?
Now, additionally, while speaking with SI, Sting also claimed that he has always wanted to share the ring with The Undertaker and has always wanted to have a good match against “The Deadman”.

Sting might have been retired from Pro Wrestling, however, when it comes to Pro Wrestling we can ‘never say never’ and maybe passionate wrestling fans like us will finally someday get to witness the dream match between Sting and Undertaker.
