WWE News: Stone Cold Steve Austin is Happy For Bill Goldberg

Austin was glad to see Goldberg return to the ring for Survivor Series

It's always a treat to hear Stone Cold Steve Austin, arguably the most successful wrestler of all time, speak his mind on the state of the business. Always a man to pull no punches, Austin joined PWTorch Editor Wade Keller for a no holds barred livecast interview, and discussed various topics ranging from James Ellsworth to Charlotte Flair.

Some of his choicest words were reserved for Goldberg though, whom Austin put over and confessed he was happy for. He added that Brock Lesnar can have a good match with anyone, and so can Goldberg, mentioning that his match with DDP was a classic.

In Stone Cold’s words, he thinks Goldberg is as strong as a bull and although not quite at the level of Brock right now, at one time, he’d have considered both of them equally explosive.

Austin isn’t worried about the match and wants it to be a ‘brutal 10 minute classic’.

Stone cold on Goldberg’s return:

‘Yeah, I was glad to see it happen. I don’t think Bill had a good run in his first go-around in WWE (in 2003-04).’

Austin also added that Goldberg did not return merely for the money.

‘Yeah, there’s some dollars and cents on the table, but this wasn’t about the money’.

Austin had several nice things to say about Goldberg

Austin is alluding to the fact that Goldberg is a family guy, and made his in-ring return to showcase to his wife and son that he was a superhero, who could still go. Both of them had missed Goldberg’s run when he was on top.

This was his opportunity to show his family that he could still go, and mow down all in his path. Austin went on to speak about what worked for Goldberg this time round in WWE:

Even today Goldberg trains and keeps himself physically fit

‘It was about the crowd responding in such great fashion. I’m not sure that Goldberg is the greatest promo guy that ever walked the planet...that did business in the squared circle. But an A+ promo by Bill Goldberg by handling the task at hand.

All those emotions. It was completely real and authentic. I felt it was a great piece of television. If the ratings went up, it means that he did indeed mean something to a lot of people.’

Goldberg battles Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series, this Sunday in a rematch from Wrestlemania 20 in the year 2004. You can check out the whole interview here.
