WWE News: 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin praises both Shinsuke Nakamura and AJ Styles
What’s the story?
Following the aftermath of the rematch between AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura at The Greatest Royal Rumble event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, WWE Hall of Famer 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin took it to the social media in order to weigh in his opinion on both ‘The King of Strong Style’ and ‘The Phenomenal One’.
In case you didn’t know…
Last night in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, WWE hosted its first ever Greatest Royal Rumble event, which featured several top Superstars and veterans of the business, who competed in singles and tag team matches in an eventful evening at the King Abdullah International Stadium.
As noted, veteran Superstars John Cena, Triple H, The Undertaker were all involved in the singles action, whereas, the likes of Chris Jericho and Rey Mysterio competed in the first ever 50-man Royal Rumble match. The match was eventually won by ‘The Monster Among Men’ Braun Strowman, who eliminated 13 men on his way to a dominant victory.
The heart of the matter
The WWE Championship was also on the line last night in Jeddah, as Champion AJ Styles defended his crown in a WrestleMania 34 rematch against ‘The Artist’ Shinsuke Nakamura, who has now perfectly adapted the role of an evil villain in this storyline.
After retaining his WWE Championship against Nakamura in New Orleans earlier in the month, Styles once again managed to successfully keep hold of his World Championship against the Japanese sensation, that is, Nakamura.
Both Styles and Nakamura wrestled each other to an amazing constructed back-and-forth match as both men traded some amazing moves between themselves, however, by the end of the contest Styles, managed to retain his title via a double count-out.
Despite a dusty finish to the WWE Championship match, there is certainly no denying in the fact that both Nakamura and Styles put up another brilliant contest between themselves and shortly afterward, WWE Hall of Famer ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin took it to his official Twitter handle and praised Shinsuke Nakamura by noting that ‘The King of Strong Style’ is much better as a heel.
In addition, ‘The Texas Rattlesnake’ also had some kind words for Nakamura’s rival and WWE Champion AJ Styles, as Austin stated that ‘The Phenomenal One’ is equally good as well and is someone who is certainly off the charts.
What’s next?
Shinsuke Nakamura will get another shot at the WWE Championship at Backlash next month, as both Styles and Nakamura get set to square-off for the third time within the space of two months.
Author’s Take
Shinsuke Nakamura’s heel turn has been amazingly good and seeing AJ Styles play the role of a perfect babyface has been a treat to watch as well.
