WWE News: Stone Cold Steve Austin's appearance at WrestleCon sells out instantly
What's the story?
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported yesterday that Stone Cold Steve Austin was added to the WrestleCon lineup for WrestleMania weekend in New Orleans. On Thursday, he reported that those tickets sold out almost immediately.
In case you didn't know...
Steve Austin's final match in the WWE came at WrestleMania XIX when he lost to The Rock on March 30, 2003. Since then Austin has been heavily involved in the entertainment industry starring in movies, hosting television shows, and having one of the most popular pro wrestling podcasts in the business.
The heart of the matter
The past couple of weeks have brought some major announcements from WrestleCon with Goldberg and Kenny Omega, and Austin's announcement yesterday afternoon just adds to the impressive list of pro wrestling personalities that will appear.
All autograph packages sold out immediately, and at the time of this writing, only the professional photo opportunities remain for sale at the ticket purchasing website for WrestleCon.
The two packages that sold out immediately for Austin were the 3:16 Package that included an exclusive window before the convention began to meet Austin, three autographs, and a professional photo opportunity for $316.00. The combo package included the photo op along with one autograph or two autographs for $179.00.
What's next?
The Steve Austin Show podcast continues to produce two episodes every week for his fans on the PodcastOne Network. New episodes will debut every Tuesday and Thursday.
Author's take
That is just a testament to how much Stone Cold Steve Austin means to the wrestling fans 15 years after he last wrestled in a match. The prices for those tickets at WrestleCon were not cheap by any means, but it didn't matter as the fans bought them up in a hurry.
I've never been to a WrestleCon, but when I went to WrestleMania in Dallas two years ago, I attended a Ring Of Honor show in the same building. The energy in that location is always great, and it's cool to see pro wrestling personalities walking around the area.
