WWE News: Stone Cold talks about Braun Strowman and the No Mercy Universal Title match
What's the story?
Stone Cold and Court Bauer gave their opinions about who should win at No Mercy in the match between Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman. 'The Texas Rattlesnake' strongly favored Brock Lesnar winning the match and retaining his title.
In case you didn't know....
Braun Strowman has had an amazing 2017 with him coming up the card very fast. His never-ending feud with Roman Reigns has been one of the highlights of the year so far.
He has put out some of the most exciting matches in WWE this year with Reigns, The Big Show, as well as the Fatal Fourway at Summerslam which took things to a new level.
Post-Summerslam Braun took his eyes away from Roman and focused instead on the Universal Championship of 'The Beast' Brock Lesnar.
The heart of the matter
In the interview, Stone Cold spoke up about Braun Strowman and talked about how much he has grown as an athlete and superstar in WWE this year.
He was full of praise for Strowman and the role he played in the Summerslam Fatal Fourway and thought that given the right push Strowman could be the next big superstar.
"This kid has really picked up the business good! His instincts are good, he's a great athlete, I don't want him to be too good an athlete so that he starts doing sh*t of the turnbuckles, but God d**n, and that Fatal Fourway.... few weeks ago was just lights out off the charts, he had a really important role in that match, he was kind of the star in my opinion. The sky is the limit for that guy and if they keep pushing him they are going to have a superstar on their hands."
When it comes to No Mercy, however, Stone Cold said that the belt changing hands at the pay-per-view is highly unlikely.
He said that he felt that both Brock and Braun as stars are bigger than the pay-per-view, meaning the belt changing hands made no sense at a small stage. He predicted that the belt won't change hands till Wrestlemania when Brock's contract runs out.
"That belt ain't going to switch hands till Wrestlemania, but God D**n you don't want Brock to go over clean by hook or by crook something has to happen if he is going to be denied the chase ........ I just don't see that pay-per-view being the pay-per-view where the belt changes hands."
What's next?
Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman are set to face each other at No Mercy for the Universal Title. They will feature heavily in the 'go home' show for No Mercy this Raw.
Author's take
Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman are both huge stars, but by losing to Strowman Brock will lose nothing. On the other hand, Strowman cannot lose clean to Brock and maintain the same dominant vibe he has in the past.
If Strowman wins this he will officially become the biggest star on Raw, but if he loses it should definitely not be clean.
