WWE News: WWE Superstar teases shocking retirement
What’s the story?
Summer Rae recently posted a message tagging fellow WWE Superstar Sasha Banks, where the former stated that she always wished to have a program with ‘The Boss’ in the WWE.
However, the aforementioned post has caused somewhat of a furor among fans of Ms. Rae, with many speculating that the former LFL football player may be parting ways with WWE very soon.
In case you didn’t know…
Summer Rae, whose real name is Danielle Moinet, formerly competed for the Lingerie Football League, where she served as the cornerback and her team’s captain.
The 33-year-old transitioned to the sport of professional wrestling in 2011 and has been featured in the WWE as both a valet and wrestler.
The heart of the matter:
Summer Rae competed in a multi-woman Tag Team match at Wrestlemania 32 and was drafted to the RAW brand in July of last year. However, ‘The First Lady of NXT’ hasn’t competed in the WWE ever since owing to injury issues.
Regardless, Summer has been considerably active in the world of modelling as well as on social media, with her latest post featuring her conversation with Sasha Banks; which is being heralded as a hint that may mark her retirement from the sport in the near future.
Summer stated that she regretted not facing Sasha Banks in a featured feud on WWE TV programming, whilst simultaneously alluding that her time in the WWE may be over.
What’s next?
Summer Rae is likely to part ways with the WWE in the days to come.
As of this writing, neither Rae nor the WWE have issued an official statement regarding the Superstar’s rumoured departure from the company.
Author’s take
Summer Rae got off to a fantabulous start on the main roster alongside Fandango.
However, the former Team B.A.D & Blonde member has now lost almost all her momentum owing to poor booking and injuries. With that being said, it's hard to believe that her wrestling days are behind her.
