WWE News: Survivor Series 2017 confirmed to be Raw vs SmackDown LIVE themed pay-per-view
What's the story?
We'd already seen SmackDown LIVE WWE Champion Jinder Mahal challenge Monday Night Raw Universal Champion to a champion vs champion match at Survivor Series, but it still remained unclear whether or not it would be a Raw vs SmackDown LIVE pay-per-view. However, this was confirmed on the TLC 2017 pre-show by Pete Rosenberg.
In case you didn't know...
On the October 17 edition of SmackDown LIVE, WWE Title holder Jinder Mahal stood in the middle of the ring and claimed that he had beaten everyone left to beat on SmackDown LIVE, so would be looking further afield for challengers.
He then sensationally challenged 'The Beast Incarnate' himself to a champion vs champion, Raw vs SmackDown LIVE match at Survivor Series.
The heart of the matter
During the TLC 2017 pre-show, Mike Rosenberg was hyping a huge weekend coming up for the WWE in November, with NXT TakeOver: WarGames followed by the 30th ever Survivor Series pay-per-view.
During this advertisement, Rosenberg confirmed everyone's suspicions that once again this year's Survivor Series will be a brand vs brand pay-per-view, which means we're likely to see a 5-man Monday Night Raw team take on a 5-man Smackdown LIVE team, exactly like last year.
The WWE then released the following video promo, hyping team red vs team blue.
What's next?
We already know, although it's not been made official yet, that Jinder Mahal will probably be facing Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series. It's also likely that AJ Styles and Finn Balor could have some sort of rematch following their first ever clash inside a WWE ring at TLC.
Author's take
Personally, I really don't like brand vs brand pay-per-views as I think they interrupt the momentum of both shows. There's also never usually enough justification or enough at stake to explain why all of these superstars would team-up and put their respective rivalries aside.
