WWE News: Taz says Asuka should lose her main roster debut

Should The Empress of Tomorrow lose her main roster debut match?
Should The Empress of Tomorrow lose her main roster debut match?

What's the story?

Former ECW World Heavyweight Champion and WWE Superstar Taz explained why he feels Asuka should lose her main roster debut on his radio show, The Taz Show. He believes that if Asuka loses her first match, it would make her a formidable heel character.

In case you didn't know...

Asuka injured her right collarbone during her match with Ember Moon at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III and then relinquish her NXT Women's Championship during August 24th tapings of NXT. William Regal announced that he and Asuka were "negotiating" with Daniel Bryan and Kurt Angle for her inevitable main roster move.

The heart of the matter

On The Taz Show, former ECW World Heavyweight Champion, Taz voiced his preference, regarding the highly debated matter of former NXT Women's Champion Asuka's main roster debut.

Taz suggested that Asuka should, in fact, lose her main roster debut match.

The reason why this comes as a shock to many fans and the WWE Universe is due to the fact that the WWE has billed Asuka as having the "longest undefeated streak in WWE history".

Taz feels that Asuka should debut as a babyface in a 'smart' city like Chicago or Philadelphia, where fans are aware of her NXT career. The WWE should continue to promote her undefeated streak and should have her debut in a match against a mid-level talent such as Alicia Fox, Emma or Dana Brooke.

Taz would then book The Empress of Tomorrow to lose this match in shocking fashion, after dominating most of it. He believes that this result would lead to the rest of the locker room underestimating Asuka, and would make her turn heel quickly and go on an absolute rampage.

Taz also suggested that he would prefer if Asuka debuted on Monday Night RAW, as he feels that having two top stars with a language barrier on the same show would be too much.

The other superstar obviously being Shinsuke Nakamura.

What's next?

As of now, the WWE has suggested that Asuka is out with an injured right collarbone and is scheduled to return in six to eight weeks time. James McKenna of Pro Wrestling Sheet stated that the word going around is The Empress Of Tomorrow may debut at TLC in October.

Author's take

Personally, Taz's suggestion and booking idea seem extremely entertaining, as it would not only shock the entire WWE Universe but would also add an interesting storyline to a rather lacklustre Women's division on RAW.

However, one thing to note is that the larger WWE Universe doesn't watch NXT, and if they were to hype her up only to have her lose her first match, that would definitely affect the perception of her from the get-go.
