What’s the story?

The Club aka Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson have taken to social media in order to call out the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express for a match at WWE’s upcoming Starrcade live event.

Ricky Morton of the legendary Rock ‘n’ Roll Express got wind of the challenge and responded to the Club.

In case you didn’t know…

The WWE is bringing back one of the most iconic professional wrestling events of all time in Starrcade.

The Starrcade event was originally presented via closed-circuit TV and later as a PPV event by the NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) and more prominently by WCW — with Starrcade being considered the WCW’s equivalent of Wrestlemania.

The heart of the matter

However, the WWE, having bought WCW, owns the rights to Starrcade and is now bringing back the beloved event, albeit not as a PPV but as a live event.

On that note, Karl Anderson asserted his team’s intentions of facing Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express at Starrcade on November 25th. Morton responded by warning Anderson to get ready.

As of this time, the WWE is yet to comment on the potential Club vs Rock ‘n’ Roll Express match at Starrcade.

What’s next?

WWE’s Starrcade live event takes place at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina on November 25th. Even though it is a Live Event, Starrcade has a special significance for North Carolina — which was the home of Jim Crockett Promotions for all those years.

Author’s take

The WWE has been at the receiving end of harsh criticism for bringing back Starrcade — a marquee WCW and NWA PPV — in the form of a simple live event.

Perhaps Vince McMahon and co may change their mind in response to the fan reaction and promote the event to an annual pay-per-view presentation for WWE. However, there is still a deep-lying disdain for WCW in the core of those who run WWE which means that it may not be on the cards.
