WWE News: The Miz comments on being traded to Raw
What’s the story?
In an interview with IGN.com prior to the release of his film, The Marine 5, WWE Superstar The Miz spoke about his recent move to Raw following the Superstar Shakeup, which took place a couple of weeks ago.
In case you didn’t know…
Following a segment involving The Miz, Chris Jericho and Dean Ambrose at the beginning of this week’s Raw, general manager Kurt Angle made a tag team match with the ‘Awesome One’ and a partner of his choice taking on Ambrose and Jericho.
While The Miz was trying to convince either of his co-stars from The Marine 5, Heath Slater and Curtis Axel, to team up with him, he received a note from a prospective partner. As the match was about to begin, the ‘A-Lister’ gestured towards the entrance area to introduce his tag team partner but no one showed up.
The Miz announced that the match had been cancelled and started to walk away but Angle came out and said that it would take place despite his partner not turning up. The match continued as a 2-on-1 encounter until Bray Wyatt interfered and took out all three superstars with a Sister Abigail each.
The heart of the matter
According to The Miz, Raw needed his and his wife’s star power to increase its ratings as it is the flagship show. He claimed that Raw is now the show to watch as it has the ‘It Couple’ of the WWE. Here’s what the former WWE Champion had to say:
“RAW's the flagship show and obviously the flagship show needed the ratings. It needed the star power of Miz and Maryse. They brought over the "It Couple" and now it's the show to watch.”
‘The Moneymaker’ added that he and Maryse had made SmackDown Live must-see with people wondering what they would do next and added that they are now doing the same on the red brand too. He was quoted as saying this:
“With SmackDown Live, we made it must-see. Every week, people would tune in wondering what Miz and Maryse would do now, but now they're doing the same exact thing with Monday Night RAW.”
What next?
From the events that have transpired over the past couple of weeks, it looks like the WWE is building up to yet another rivalry between The Miz and Dean Ambrose for the latter’s Intercontinental Championship.
Author’s take
The Miz is undoubtedly one of the top ‘heel’ characters in the WWE at present and could be in the title picture on Raw in the days to come.
