WWE News: The Miz comments on Daniel Bryan's return to in-ring action
What's the story?
The Miz recently had an interview with CBS Sports’ In This Corner podcast and touched upon a variety of subjects including defeating John Cena at Wrestlemania and the recent in-ring return of Daniel Bryan.
In case you didn't know...
Daniel Bryan had to retire in 2016 owing to concussion-related injuries. He had still been with the company in a non-performing capacity, acting as the Smackdown Live General Manager since then.
Daniel Bryan and The Miz have locked horns ever since the 36-year-old made his debut for WWE in 2010 as part of NXT, where he had The Miz as his mentor. The two did not get along on the show and have been a constant thorn in each other's sides ever since.
Even when Daniel Bryan was the GM, the two had a major confrontation on an episode of Talking Smack (credit: WWE.com):
The heart of the matter
It comes as no surprise that The Miz does not have very kind words for Daniel Bryan and essentially mocked Bryan and his beliefs when asked about what he thinks of Daniel Bryan's return.
Here is what he said: (Credit: Wrestle Inc)
Am I happy? No. Good for him that he is back. Congratulations. Bravo. The thing is he was the one that said, ‘fight for your dreams?’ He didn’t fight for his dreams when he walked away like a coward on Talking Smack now did he? That’s real. Fight for your dreams. His playbook goes something like this: go out there, get sympathy, talk about your wife, cry a little and get your ass kicked
He also talked about how pinning John Cena at Wrestlemania was one of the most amazing experiences of his career.
What's next?
Ever since The Miz got transferred to SmackDown as part of Superstar Shakeup, the fans had expected a feud to start between Daniel Bryan and The Miz, but it looks like D-Bryan will be involved in a feud with Big Cass in the near future.
Author's take
I feel that The Miz vs Daniel Bryan feud is being saved for later, as WWE realize that this will end up being one of the hottest programs in recent years. It is my guess that we will be getting The Miz vs Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania 35 next year.
