WWE News: The Miz talks about losing the Intercontinental Title and his altercation with Daniel Bryan
The Miz and his wife Maryse appeared on this week’s ‘Off The Top Rope’ section of ESPN SportsCenter, which is hosted by Jonathan Coachman. During his conversation with Coachman, the Miz opened up about a lot of issues relating to recent events that have transpired around him.
It all began with the host asking him why he has been on fire for the last few months. The superstar gave full credit to Maryse’s presence beside him for all the success that he has had and that every time he felt any doubts about his ability, she makes him realise his greatness.
Talking about losing his Intercontinental Championship to Dolph Ziggler at WWE No Mercy last Sunday, the Miz started off by praising the Showoff’s wrestling talent and also his mic skills. About the match, the self-proclaimed ‘Awesome One’ said that it was a minor lapse in concentration because of which he lost the title.
He also cross-questioned the Coach about why he was the one who had been called to the show despite being the loser. The Miz replied to his own question by claiming that he is the star, the one that everyone talks about and that Ziggler does not deserve to be the champion because he is the only one who fits the bill.
In an episode of the Talking Smack show on the WWE Network back in August, the Miz had given SmackDown general manager Daniel Bryan a mouthful due to their disagreement. When asked about it, the ‘A-Lister’ said that he has been unhappy for a while about how the Intercontinental Title has not been getting the required attention.
Watch the confrontation here:
According to him, all the limelight was stolen by the WWE World title and the newly-introduced championships on SmackDown and the reason behind this was Bryan’s disapproval of him. So he snapped and decided to let everyone know what was on his mind.
Maryse, too, expressed her opinion on the heated Talking Smack exchange and asserted that the SmackDown general manager must learn to show respect towards her husband as he is the one because of whom Daniel Bryan reached where he is today.
Answering a question about what should be the focus when working on nurturing new talent in the WWE, the Miz said that mic skills, ring skills and the ability to work hard are all equally important. Moreover, one needs to be a star in everything he or she does and it is important to do it in the best possible manner.
On a separate note, the Miz acknowledged the Coach for supporting him during his early days in the WWE. He claimed that when no one in the locker room appreciated what he did, Coachman was the only one who stood up for him.
The former Intercontinental Champion also confessed that he is not happy in his current state because he wants to be part of the main event in every show. However, the Miz was pleased about the fact that SmackDown is beating Raw in every aspect of their brand war.
