WWE News: The real reason behind John Cena-Braun Strowman angle revealed
What's the story?
NoDQ.com reported that the real reason behind the Cena-Strowman angle which saw John Cena being slammed into steel steps was to write him off for next week, as Cena is scheduled to appear on a SmackDown Live event in China.
In case you didn't know...
John Cena recently returned to Monday Night RAW, after it was revealed earlier that he had obtained a free-agent status, which allows him to appear on both RAW and SmackDown. Cena returned to the red brand after Summerslam 2017. This past week on RAW, we saw a first ever match between Cena and The Monster Among Men, Braun Strowman.
The heart of the matter
On the most recent episode of Monday Night RAW, Braun Strowman slammed John Cena into some steel steps, giving Cena a victory via DQ. There has been speculation regarding the possible reason behind this angle.
NoDQ.com reports that Strowman only slammed Cena into the steps in order to write off Cena from the coming Monday's show. This is because The Leader of the Cenation is scheduled to make an appearance at a SmackDown Live event in Shenzen, China.
There has been a ton of speculation, which suggested that this could be an angle that would set up a match between Strowman and Cena at WrestleMania.
However, much to the disappointment of the WWE Universe, Cena will only be using his power as a free-agent to switch over to the blue brand and perform on Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan's show in China.
What's next?
John Cena is currently set to face the Big Dog Roman Reigns at No Mercy, and the two have done some good work together so far. On the other hand, Braun Strowman finds himself in the main event scene and is scheduled to face WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar,
The Monster Among Men will be fighting for the title and John Cena will be looking to teach Roman Reigns a thing or two about respect, at No Mercy.
Author's take
While it is disappointing that the Cena-Strowman angle doesn't have any deeper significance, fans should never rule out the possibility of seeing a match of this magnitude once more at WrestleMania.
