WWE News: The Rock comments on his real-life issues with John Cena
What’s the story?
During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live this weekend, WWE legend and Hollywood Superstar Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, was asked about his relationship with fellow WWE Superstar John Cena, with whom The Rock has had quite the history with over the course of the past few years.
In case you didn’t know…
The Rock and John Cena’s rivalry in the WWE initially began back in 2011, when The Rock made his return to the WWE for the first time in almost 7 years, as the host of WrestleMania 27.
Within the next few months, Cena and Rock’s rivalry turned into a bittersweet relationship. The two men eventually squared-off at WrestleMania 28 in a match that was billed as "Once in a Lifetime” with The Rock ending up as the winner of the contest.
However, at WrestleMania 29, The Rock and John Cena once again went toe-to-toe with each other. This time, Cena came out on top and won the WWE Championship in the process as well, bringing an end to Rock’s eighth WWE Title reign.
The heart of the matter
While speaking with Jimmy Kimmel on his late-night talk show, The Rock was questioned regarding his rivalry with John Cena and, if the two former on-screen rivals had some sort of real-life heat with each other.
Kimmel noted that while both Rock and Cena were feuding in the WWE, their rivalry on-screen was apparently not real. However, The Rock quickly corrected Kimmel’s statement by claiming that he and Cena indeed had real-life problems with each other and had a lot of issues with each other in the past.
"In the world of wrestling, as you guys know, it's fictionalized, it's a TV show. But we had our rivalry, and now we can look back on it, it was so real. Like, we had real problems with each other.”
In addition, The Rock also claimed that his problems with Cena eventually led the two men doing big business with each other, as they broke several pay-per-view records.
Despite having a lot of heat with each other in the past, the two men are pretty good friends now.
"Now... he's one of my best friends. We talk all the time, I'm rooting for him to win."
What’s next?
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is currently busy with his career in Hollywood, meanwhile, John Cena, on the other hand, has been wanting to square-off against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 34 next weekend.

John Cena and The Rock definitely gave us one of the most memorable rivalries of all time and fans around the world are certainly waiting for the mega return of The Rock to the WWE.
