WWE News: The Rock could star in Pokemon movie
What's the story?
The Rock is popping up all over the place and he doesn't even need to be seen in order to make a huge difference to a project either.
Dwayne Johnson's voice-over talents have been recognized in Acadamy Award nominated films like Moana, and The Hashtag Show reports The Rock is being considered for another big movie where you've gotta catch 'em all.
In case you didn't know...
Pokemon is a global franchise based on commercialism and the idea that monsters exist, but they're able to be captured inside of special balls in order to fight with each so their master humans' bragging rights and accolades.
Naturally, Pokemon has gone through numerous incarnations through the years to stay current with new generations of fans. But a new project might be on the way and Legendary Pictures has some big plans for the next Pokemon film.
The heart of the matter
The Hashtag Show have reported that Dwayne Johnson is being considered for a major role in the upcoming Pokemon film currently called, "Detective Pikachu." If he does get the part, it would be a voiceover role.
Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds, and Mark Wahlberg are all reportedly being considered for the same role that The Rock is currently being looked at to portray.
What's next?
Whether The Rock lands a role in the new Pokemon movie or not is a moot point because he'll have no shortage of film projects for years to come.
Baywatch is evidently going to be a franchise for The Rock as a sequel is already in the works. If you add on the Fast And The Furious movies and spin-off he's currently got on his schedule, maybe he won't have time to "catch 'em all" right now.
Author's take
If Dwayne Johnson is going to appear in a Pokemon movie it needs to be a good role. If he's not chosen to play a leading role in the "Detective Pikachu" film maybe there's the possibility of him playing a Pokemon instead.
He'd probably do well voicing any Rock-type Pokemon like Geodude, Graveler, or Golem.
