WWE News: The Rock doesn't mind being called the 'People's President'
What's the story?
There seems to be a lot of steam building up on the ‘Rock for president’ express as the Hollywood star recently stated that he would not mind being called the ‘People’s President’ in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
In case you didn't know...
The Rock might not be doing much in the wrestling ring at the moment. But it now looks like the former WWE Champion will consider running for the US presidency in 2020.
In fact, a committee had also filed an official draft for the 2020 run up to the presidency for The Rock, which does leave the door open for the ‘People’s Champion’ to become the President of the United States of America.
The heart of the matter
The Rock was speaking at the Los Angeles Comic-Con about his new movie ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’, which is a sequel to the original Jumanji.
As quoted by Entertainment Weekly, The Rock was asked if he was going to run for the 2020 elections to which he replied.
“I think the ‘People’s President’ has a really nice ring to it. I’ll just say that,”
Dwayne also added that becoming the President would be a great opportunity to help other people too.
What's next?
Jumanji might be the next thing on The Rock’s mind as this could be another big movie in terms of box office revenue. It seems highly unlikely that he would return to the WWE anytime soon given his movie commitments and his promotional activities will keep him busy.
Author's take
It does sound like a noble thing for Johnson to suggest that he wouldn’t mind running for President and I wouldn’t mind seeing him in the Oval office come 2020. The Rock isn’t just a wrestler anymore and his popularity across the world has been growing rapidly thanks to his acting career.
2020 is still a few years away and given that most of the presidential candidates have to do a lot of campaigning and bring in funding, The Rock can cope with those aspects rather easily.
Seeing a former WWE star as the President might have been difficult to envisage a few years ago but with Donald Trump being the President now, anything is possible in 2020.
