WWE News: The Shield to invoke tag-team title rematch clause on next week's RAW

Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins want their titles back
Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins want their titles back

What's the story?

With Sheamus in Ireland and Dean Ambrose on his honeymoon, Seth Rollins and Cesaro were from their respective tag-teams to face off against each other.

After Rollins was able to put Cesaro down for the 3-count, he announced that following Roman Reigns' Intercontinental Title win it's about time he and Ambrose invoked their rematch clause for the tag-team titles, and it'll be on next week's Monday Night RAW.

In case you didn't know...

Rollins' win comes off of the back of a ton of momentum for the members of the Shield, as a tag-team or in singles competition. The Shield beat the team of The Miz and The Bar before Survivor Series and then toppled SmackDown's The New Day at the pay-per-view. Ambrose then picked up a single's win against Sheamus on the post-Survivor Series RAW, and then this week Rollins took down Cesaro in singles action.

The heart of the matter

The rivalry between The Bar and The Shield (minus Roman Reigns) has been somewhat reminiscent of the series of matches between The Usos and The New Day, and the long-running feud between the two looks set for at least another title match on next weeks RAW.

Seth Rollins also addressed rumours of a Shield breakup given that he, Ambrose and Reigns seemed to all be doing their own things. Naturally, 'The Architect' Seth Rollins shot this rumours down perfectly with a 'hell no!'

What's next?

This match screams blow-off match for me, set to end the feud between the two teams and cement one of them as the tag-team champions going forward.

The trouble is RAW's tag-team division is fairly non-existent at the moment with teams like The Club and Heath Slater and Rhyno barely being used and no longer credible choices for #1 contenders.

Author's take

I'll be honest, I am growing a little tired of seeing Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose take on Cesaro and Sheamus, but as I just mentioned, what else does the RAW tag-team have to offer?
