What’s the story?

Sunil and Samir Singh—collectively known as The Singh Brothers were recently interviewed by Wrestling Inc and during their interaction, the duo talked about their experiences in working in Japan, training under Rip Rogers and Harley Race and more.

In case you didn’t know…

The Singh Brothers first made their WWE debut as part of WWE’s inaugural Cruiserweight Classic tournament. The duo of Samir and Sunil were previously known as The Bollywood Boyz, but ever since their main roster the team has been repackaged as The Singh Brothers. The Singh Brothers have also played a huge role in Jinder Mahal’s rise to the top of the mountain in WWE and have helped The Modern Day Maharaja in capturing the WWE Title from Randy Orton at last year’s Backlash pay-per-view.

The heart of the matter

During their chat with Wrestling Inc, Sunil and Samir talked about a host of wrestling related topics and here are a few highlights from the interview:

Training under Rip Rogers and Harley Race:

Sunil Singh first started off by stating that he and his brother first started training at The Hart Dungeon in Calgary and the two men also picked up many training camps with Harley Race and Rip Rogers. Additionally, Sunil also said that Harley Race has taught The Singh Brothers a lot about in-ring psychology.

Working in the Dojos and how it was being a gaijin:

Samir Singh claimed that being a WWE superstar one needs to earn the respect of the locker room leaders and according to the former one half of the RCW Tag Team Champion also stated that the Smackdown locker room has been awesome so far.

Additionally, Sunil Singh talked about his experience in Japan and revealed that he actually never went through the dojo system but had the experience of wrestling one of the top Japanese stars of all time, in the form of Akira Nogami.

The Hart Dungeon:

Sunil Singh said that he never had the chance of training under Stu Hart because Stu had passed away at the time but claims that it was an honor for him to train on the same canvas as Jake Roberts, Bret Hart, Dynamite Kid, British Bulldog and more had previously trained.

What’s next?

The Singh Brothers continue to work on Smackdown Live alongside Jinder Mahal, and the duo of Samir and Sunil will now hope to help The Modern Day Maharaja in winning the vacant WWE United States Championship.

Author’s Take

The Singh Brothers have certainly scratch and clawed their way to the top of the ladder and have done a lot of hard work in making it to the WWE, and it something Sunil and Samir should be tremendously proud of.
