WWE News: The Undertaker reportedly went through hip surgery last week
Last week, the two photos posted above of The Undertaker were posted online. Both photos show The Undertaker on crutches, which led to wild speculation as to what his Wrestlemania 33 status might be. According to PWInsider, The Phenom recently underwent surgery, presumably hip surgery.
PWInsider reported that the reason Undertaker was on crutches was due to the surgery he underwent.
Whether this is good news or not with regards to his Wrestlemania match next year is up in the air. It was said that after Wrestlemania this year, Undertaker said that he was done with his career.
However, he has said that before and by November or December of the same year he tends to change his mind. In that regards, it is highly possible that he will be wrestling next year.
His rumoured/scheduled opponent for Wrestlemania is John Cena, who he was supposed to face this year at Wrestlemania 32 this year in what was going to be his swan song. However, due to John Cena’s injury, he instead faced Shane McMahon in a Hell In A Cell match in a stipulation match that didn’t really mean much at the end.
There is no word as to when he had his surgery, but his wife Michelle McCool posted a picture on Instagram at a wedding they attended, where The Deadman did not have the crutches. It can be presumed that the surgery happened after that, as the pictures above were released more recently.
It is not surprising that The Undertaker had to undergo this surgery as his style of wrestling would have taken a toll on his entire body, specifically his hips, knees, shoulders and perhaps elbows as well.
Given that he has had time for recovery, there is a high possibility that he could wrestle John Cena at Orlando in the grandest stage of them all next year unless plans change.
Right now it is rumoured that the two plans penned for Cena at Wrestlemania are either to face The Undertaker or to win his 16th World Championship. If the latter plans happen, The Phenom’s Wrestlemania opponent is up in the air.
There could be many possibilities, but Taker is in a stage where he approves of his Wrestlemania opponents, and Cena is very likely his handpicked opponent to be the final man he has a dance in the squared circle with.
