WWE News: The Undertaker & two other legends confirmed for 25th Anniversary of RAW
RAW has been a mainstay on Monday nights since 1993. On the 22nd of January, WWE will air a special silver jubilee celebration of RAW, commemorating twenty-five years of sports entertainment's flagship brand.
You did not read that wrong. The grand show will indeed emanate from two venues. As first reported by WWE.com, the superstars of both RAW and SmackDown Live will be part of the celebrations at Barclays Center. However, there will be special appearances at Manhattan Center as well, featuring some icons who've defined RAW over the years.
The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels and Kevin Nash are three of the legends who will be returning on this really special occasion. We're certain that WWE has far more surprises up their sleeve as well when the event does air.
Why Manhattan Center, you ask? It was the site of the first ever episode of RAW that aired in January 1993. It will be a night of nostalgia, memories and countless priceless moments for longtime viewers of the red brand.
It will be The Undertaker's first appearance on WWE television since his loss to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 33. We're curious to see what his role will be and if he will indeed be announced for the WWE Hall of Fame, on that very date.
Shawn Michaels, on the other hand, while having long retired from active competition has been playing an integral part in NXT now. He will be the special guest referee when NXT Champion Drew McIntyre takes on the infamous Adam Cole, one night before NXT Takeover: WarGames.
Congratulations to RAW for having survived this long, without an off-season. Kudos to the McMahon family and every single WWE employee for keeping the brand not just alive but thriving, twenty-five years later.
