WWE News: The Usos on why they haven't appeared on SmackDown
This week’s SmackDown Live featured a tag team Battle Royal to determine the #1 contenders for the Tag Team Championship. The Hype Bros outlasted The Ascension, The Vaudevillains, American Alpha, Breezango and the team of Heath Slater and Rhyno to win the match and earned a shot at the Tag Titles held by The Wyatt Family.
However, one of the formidable teams of the blue brand, The Usos, were unable to participate in this Battle Royal. In the recent edition of Talking Smack, the Slammy Award winning Tag team confirmed that the injury of Jey Uso prevented them from wrestling at SmackDown and they demanded another shot at the Tag titles.
Regarding his ankle injury, Jey commented:
“These things happen in the ring. Heat of the moment, you know?"
WWE confirmed that Zack Ryder of The Hype Bros. suffered a knee injury during that battle royal and he may be out of action for some time. Hence, the former WWE Tag team Champions asked the Smackdown General Manager Daniel Bryan to announce them as the #1 contenders so that they can take on the Wyatt Family.
Jimmy Uso even commented that The Hype Bros are nothing but a “joke” and doubted their chances to win against the team of Randy Orton, Luke Harper and Bray Wyatt:
"Do you honestly believe that The Hype Bros. can get with Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt? You know who will get with them? You know who the WWE Universe believes will get with them dudes? The Usos, because we ain't no joke!"
Despite Jey’s injury, Jimmy stated that they are prepared to fight the current SmackDown Tag team Champions in the upcoming episode of Smackdown if provided the opportunity. He assured Renee Young that Jey's ankle injury would be healed by the upcoming week:
“I'm gonna tape it and put some wood on it, then I'm going to tape the wood to it and wrap some wire on it. Because we are going to go!"
All these comments, however, were not enough to force Daniel Bryan to authorise the match between The Wyatt Family and The Usos. Nonetheless, he said he would “think about it”. Watch the Hype Bros. take on the Usos on September 13th:
