WWE News: The Usos to face off The New Day in a Hell in a Cell
What's the story?
In this week's edition of SmackDown, it was announced that The Usos will invoke their rematch clause and face off against the current WWE SmackDown Tag Team champions, The New Day, at Hell in a Cell PPV.
In case you didn't know...
The Usos and The New Day have been the only two teams to have the SmackDown Tag Team Championship belts around their waists in the recent past.
The last tag team to have held the belts apart from The New Day and The Usos was American Alpha, who won the title way back in December 2016.
The New Day won the titles back in the September 12th episode of SmackDown, as Kofi Kingston and Big E prevailed over The Usos in a Sin City Street Fight.
The heart of the matter
On SmackDown this week, The Usos faced off against the Hype Bros in a tag team match. After the match, which The Usos won, the brothers confronted The New Day, who were part of the crowd, watching the action unfold.
The Usos invoked their rematch clause, which The New Day gladly accepted and also added a stipulation for the Hell in a Cell PPV match - a tag team match for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship inside a Hell in a Cell.
What's next?
The Hell in a Cell PPV, a SmackDown exclusive PPV, will be held in Detroit, Michigan, on October 8, 2017. Both The New Day and The Usos have had two reigns with the SmackDown Tag Team Championships and this could be the final part of this storied rivalry.
Author's take
Recent rumours have suggested that there won't be a rematch clause for the losers of this match after the Hell in a Cell PPV, which is a great idea! The rivalry has been amazing so far but has become long in the tooth.
