Two Championships and more announced for the next pay-per-view
Two Championships and more announced for the next pay-per-view

What's the story?

WWE announced several matches for their upcoming pay-per-view, WWE Stomping Grounds, during Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia.

WWE Champion Kofi Kingston and Universal Champion Seth Rollins will defend their titles in rematches from Super ShowDown, while Raw Women's Champion Becky Lynch will compete in a rematch from Money in the Bank.

In case you didn't know...

Brock Lesnar was expected to cash-in his Money in the Bank briefcase against Rollins or Kingston in Saudi Arabia, but Rollins managed to win his championship match and prevent Lesnar from cashing in his contract.

Kingston defeated Dolph Ziggler to retain his WWE Championship and Lesnar did not reappear to cash-in the briefcase, leaving both champions safe for now.

The heart of the matter

WWE Stomping Grounds will take place two weeks from now, which resulted in the company confirming some of the matches on Raw and SmackDown this week, such as Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre and SmackDown Women's Champion Bayley against Alexa Bliss.

Kingston will face Ziggler in a steel cage for the WWE Championship, Rollins will face Baron Corbin for the Universal Championship and Lynch will face Lacey Evans for the Raw Women's Championship.

Though this will be Ziggler and Kingston's second match for the WWE Championship, it will merely be the next installment of their career rivalry that began in 2009.

Rollins will have his second Universal Championship match against Corbin, continuing their feud that began in December 2018, when he and The Authority blamed Corbin for the decline in Raw's ratings.

Lynch's feud with Evans cost her the SmackDown Women's Championship last month at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view, so their second match could be the end of their feud, but that is pure speculation.

What's next?

The next pay-per-view after Stomping Grounds will be Extreme Rules on July 14, and is currently advertised to feature a triple threat WWE Championship match between Kingston, Ziggler and Kevin Owens as well as a tables match between Rollins and Corbin for the Universal Championship.
