WWE News: TLC announced for December 4th in Dallas, Texas

TLC will be a Smackdown Live Pay-Per-View

TLC has generally been one of the consistent ones among all the Pay-Per-Views. This could be attributed to the fact that fans love to watch TLC gimmick matches. Even last year, when the expectations of the Pay-Per-View itself were low, the show delivered better than the Pay-Per-Views that preceded it.

Smackdown Live was in Dallas, Texas for the August 30th episode. It was announced to the crowd that WWE would be returning to Dallas for the TLC Pay-Per-View.

The American Airlines Center in Dallas will host this year’s edition of the WWE TLC pay-per-view on December 4th. The PPV is rumored to be a Smackdown Live exclusive event; fans can gain access to an exclusive presale starting tonight by using the password WWETLC.

Even though it is rumored to be a Smackdown Live exclusive event, it is almost a certain fact that it is. Around June, a supposed WWE insider leaked a picture of a sheet that mentioned the Pay-Per-Views, including the brand exclusive ones, from Summerslam onwards. It stated:

Backlash(Smackdown) – September 11th

Clash Of Champions(Raw) – September 25th

No Mercy(Smackdown) – October 9th

Hell In A Cell(Raw) – October 30th

Survivor Series(Both) – November 20th

TLC(Smackdown) – December 4th

Roadblock(Raw) – December 18th

So far, everything has been on point, and it is almost expected that it is only a matter of time before Roadblock is confirmed. It would make it the second time WWE is having Roadblock this year, with the first one being a Network exclusive that took place in Canada. The main event saw Triple H defeat Dean Ambrose to retain the WWE World Championship.

The addition of brand exclusive Pay-Per-Views ensures that there will be 19 Pay-Per-Views this year instead of the standard 12. It is yet to be seen whether this will lead to a burnout among the fans, because there will be multiple PPVs, and given that each brand generally gets less than a month to build each PPV, they will have to up their game in terms of short build-up time.

However, Stephanie McMahon pointed out a couple of months back that the brand extension will see the return of long-term storytelling, which means that there will be more simplistic feuds, and less overexposure for each star. Long-term storytelling generally tends to sit very well with the fans, and it should help the brand split immensely.
