WWE News: Top NXT star undergoes knee surgery
What's the story?
Dominik Dijakovic is clearly a superstar destined for greatness in the WWE and NXT. With his size, wrestling ability, and overwhelming presence, it's hard to think that the company doesn't have plans for him. Sadly, whatever they had prepared for him will have to wait.
In case you didn't know...
Dominik Dijakovic debuted for NXT in September of 2017, wrestling under the name "Chris Dijak" before his eventual rebranding. Since then, he's become a legit monster in NXT.
In his short time with the brand, he's gone up against top talents like Ricochet, Keith Lee, Roderick Strong, and Aleister Black on both NXT TV and house shows. Recently, he took on Luke Harper during the Worlds Collide: NXT Alumni vs NXT Superstars event, losing to the former Intercontinental Champion after a barnburner of a performance.
Over the past month, Dijakovic has been moving towards the NXT North American Championship, with his eyes on Velveteen Dream. It seemed that they were setting up for a matchup between the two at NXT TakeOver: XXV. However, that won't be happening.
The heart of the matter
Dijakovic revealed earlier today on Twitter that he went under the knife on May 7th, undergoing knee surgery. He said that it was an attempt to rid his body of a weakness, and that his driving force behind coming back was his family.
He finished up with a reminder for the NXT North American Champion, stating that once he was healed up, he would be coming for the Vainglorious One.
What's next?
While Dijakovic is on the shelf, someone will have to take his place when it comes to Velveteen Dream and the North American Championship. Still, that shouldn't keep the big man down. He has everything that the WWE is looking for in a top guy, and once he's ready to return to the ring, he'll surely be placed in the title picture.
