WWE News: Top NXT Superstar wants to retire Brock Lesnar & he reveals why he dislikes him
What's the story?
Brock Lesnar is a polarising figure for the WWE Universe, and it seems that his fellow Superstars in the WWE locker room feel the same as well.
Lesnar clearly gets preferential treatment which may have rubbed the WWE Superstars the wrong way. NXT Superstar Matt Riddle had tweeted a couple of months ago that he wants to retire Brock Lesnar, and it seems like he meant it!
In case you didn't know...
Lesnar won the Universal title for the second time when he defeated Braun Strowman at Crown Jewel and has since defended his title only once, at Royal Rumble, against Finn Balor.
The Beast is set to face off against Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 35, but we may not see him at next month's Fastlane PPV, which is the final PPV before WrestleMania.
The heart of the matter
In an interview with WWE, Riddle spoke about a number of topics, including how he wants to retire Brock Lesnar, and the reason why he dislikes the current Universal champion.
"Oh yeah, retiring Brock... it's no secret. That's been the goal since I started wrestling, since the very beginning. I like to set goals that seem impossible. Only one person can retire Brock Lesnar, only one person can end his career, and that person's going to be me.
"I don't like how he does it, I don't like the respect that he shows, and I don't like the work rate that he puts out. That's just my personal opinion. I think he's capable of more. Maybe it doesn't work out for me, maybe it doesn't work out the first time, but I guarantee you I'm going to beat him and I'm gonna retire him." (H/T WrestlingInc for the transcription)
What's next?
It may be a while before Riddle gets a main roster call-up considering the number of NXT Superstars who have graduated to the main roster lately.
