What’s the story?

According to respected Pro Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, inaugural WWE United Kingdom Champion Tyler Bate might have backstage heat on himself from WWE management.

In case you didn’t know…

Tyler Bate made his WWE debut in 2017 as part of WWE’s UK Championship tournament, which was also eventually won by Bate himself as he became the inaugural WWE UK Champion at the age of 19. Since winning the UK Championship last year, Bate has been on a roll in WWE’s UK Division as well as on NXT TV, where he competed in numerous high profile matches against the likes of Pete Dunne, Trent Seven, and Jack Gallagher.

The heart of the matter

During the latest edition of The Observer, Dave Meltzer weighed in on Tyler Bate’s 4 back-to-back losses in WWE last week as he stated that Meltzer went from 0-4 within the span of seven days.

Additionally, Meltzer also said that WWE’s initial plans were to groom Bate as the face and future of the UK division, however, the former UK Champion has now seemingly fallen out of favour.

Furthermore, Meltzer also claimed that he believes that following Bate’s UK Title loss to Pete Dunne, WWE supposedly wanted to book Tyler Bate on the main-roster tour, however, this was a long time ago and right before Dunne won the UK Title off Bate.

What’s next?

Tyler Bate, who recently made his 205 Live debut, has already lost to the likes of TJP and Enzo Amore on WWE’s Cruiserweight Division. However, that’s not all as the former UK Champion recently lost to Roderick Strong on NXT and also suffered a big loss to The Velveteen Dream during the latest set of NXT tapings.

Author’s Take

It should be noted that as of right now this is just a speculation on Dave Meltzer’s behalf and nothing has been confirmed on this news just yet. However, it would be a real shame if WWE gives up on Tyler Bate because the UK superstar is still in his early days and has a long way to go.
