WWE News: Triple H confirms WWE's next big move in India
What's the story?
India is one of the most important markets for WWE, because of the vast population that watches the product on a weekly basis. I had a chance to interact with Mr Canyon Ceman, Sr. Director for Talent Development in the WWE and he teased big plans for India not long ago.
In an interview with The National in Abu Dhabi, Triple H confirmed that there will be a WWE Performance Center in India. He also spoke about two other Performance Centers elsewhere in the world.
In case you didn't know...
India has always been one of the biggest markets for WWE since the 90s. 50 million Indians tune in to watch RAW and SmackDown Live weekly.
During my interview with Mr Ceman, he told me that WWE may want to cater to Indian fans with localized content, in the near future. For the same, WWE will be conducting tryouts in Mumbai, India in the month of March.
Mr Ceman also assured me that if a Performance Center happens, NXT India will follow suit soon.
The heart of the matter
This is an announcement that is guaranteed to delight fans in India, the Middle East, and Latin America. Triple H confirmed more than one Performance Center during the course of the interview:
I can tell you there will be a performance center in India. There will be a performance center in the Middle East. There will, more than likely, be a performance center in Latin America. We will be replicating this process around the globe, all over.
We will bring you more updates on this situation as more details surface. No timeframe has been announced for the said Performance Center.
What's next?
WWE is a global entity and the company will spread its wings across the world over the following years. This could be the beginning of great things for India and The Middle East. NXT India could be a reality very soon indeed.
Should WWE produce content in local languages for India? What are your thoughts on this?
