WWE News: Triple H wants to face The Rock one more time
What's the story?
Sometimes a feud can last through many eras of sports entertainment and often times it is the stars involved that have a lot to do with it. Triple H and The Rock have been the subject of conversation recently and so has a return match between the two. Triple H recently spoke at a Web Summit in Portugal and expressed a desire to have another match with The People's Champ.
In case you didn't know
The Rock and Triple H are no strangers to each other in the ring. But since they departed from full-time in-ring competition, they seem to have taken different paths. Triple H is enjoying his position of authority in WWE while The Rock enjoys everything about having a blockbuster movie career. But never say never in pro wrestling, especially if the money is right.
The heart of the matter
Triple H recently spoke at a Web Summit in Portugal where he discussed a few interesting ideas including the notion that another match with The Rock might be on the horizon or at least they both seem to be open to it. However, it all comes down to making it work which could be the hardest part.
The WWE Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events, and Creative said there's a lot of speculation surrounding the idea of another match with The Rock. Triple H put the idea out there and so has The Rock. With two influential people like them putting an idea out into the grand consciousness, people are naturally going to gravitate toward it.
Triple H said "I would love to dance with The Great One again" and went on to explain where a match like that would need to happen.
"If we're gonna do it we do it on the biggest stage of them all, WrestleMania. But at this point in time, there has been no formal conversations had, so I don't want to get people too excited. But if the opportunity came up, I'd lay the SmackDown on his candy-ass one more time."
What's next?
Perhaps the waves of the pro wrestling world's turbulent and unexpected ocean might find Triple H and The Rock clashing once more. But it would need to consist of some careful planning on both their parts because The Rock's schedule is very busy.
Author's take
A clash of this magnitude would certainly be a marquee match-up. But in all reality, it might be taking up valuable space on the card which could be better utilized to push a younger talent who won't be going anywhere to film a move the next day.
WWE needs to focus on their future, but in doing so, it's hard to ignore the tremendous impression the past has made on the current product and it's also evident some people would love to see some of those big matches from generations past one more time.
