WWE News: Triple H talks about his match with Batista at WrestleMania 35
What's the story?
With the biggest weekend in WWE's calendar year set to take place starting next Friday, Triple H answered several questions today during a conference call with the media.
One of the questions he was asked pertained to his WrestleMania match with Batista where Triple H's career is on the line. 411Mania.com carried transcripts of the conference call.
In case you missed it...
During the 70th birthday celebration for Ric Flair last month, Batista shocked the world when he returned not to celebrate Flair's birthday but to attack him instead.
It was to get the attention of Triple H whom Batista felt held him down throughout his WWE career and whose career he wanted to end himself at this year's 'Mania.
The heart of the matter
Since Triple H has competed routinely at WrestleManias even though he is technically not an active, full-time superstar, his matches are often the biggest ones come the Show of Shows.
He fought Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey last year and has battled Roman Reigns and Sting as well over the last few years at WrestleMania.
Batista has always wanted one more match in WWE with Triple H, and the seeds were planted at SmackDown 1,000 when the Animal stated that the Game 'had done everything in the business - except beat him'.
When asked about the match this year and how it would differ from previous matches between the two former Evolution members, Triple H answered that 'personally, this one will be about doing the match for the enjoyment of it.'
He also stated that 'for Dave, it's a chance to end his career the way he wants'. The Game has constantly referred to how Batista has quit WWE twice, so that this time, accepting Batista's challenge stops him from being able to quit once more.
What's next?
Triple H has an extremely busy week with Takeover: New York on Friday, April 5th, the Hall of Fame Ceremony the next night and then WrestleMania 35 on Sunday, April 7.
How will he fare with so much going down and will Batista get what he wants by ending Triple H's in-ring career? We'll have to wait until next weekend.
