WWE News: Triple H Talks NXT TakeOver, Bobby Fish Injury
What's the story
Triple H did a post-show interview with WWE's Cathy Kelley to discuss the fallout from NXT TakeOver: War Games. "The King of Kings" goes in-depth with his thoughts on the show, including an update on the status of Bobby Fish.
In case you didn't know
Triple H is a former 14-time World Champion and is the current Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the WWE. Hunter is currently overseeing the NXT Brand, in terms of producing the shows and being the mastermind behind the brand's rising success since 2012.
The heart of the matter
Triple H talks about rumble and the roar from the crowd echoing throughout the Staples Center, along with the energy and buzz that generated throughout the course of the show. Triple H talks about Matt Riddle and says that he definitely made his mark tonight, putting over his charisma and confidence level. Hunter claims that Matt Riddle has a unique level of intensity that very few people have and he will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come.
Triple H talks about the controversial conclusion to the Kairi Sane-Shayna Baszler match. He says there is no replay's in wrestling when it comes to the decisions being final. "The Game" goes on to say their rivalry is far from over, then puts over Dakota Kai and Io Shirari.
Triple H talks about Velveteen Dream and discussed his youthful performance, taking the NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa to his limit and beyond his breaking point. Praising just how great Dream is on every level and how dominant he can be. Triple H goes on to discuss Ciampa, saying he is likely not going to be losing the NXT Championship anytime soon. Hunter puts over the idea of a rematch between Aleister Black and Tommaso Ciampa in the near future, saying Black needs to really dig down deep if he has any shot of taking the title back.
Triple H puts over all the competitors in the War Games match for a fantastic performance. He said there are simply no words to describe what they went through and what they put their bodies through, leaving it all on the line to say they're the best in the industry. He teases a possible match idea between NXT UK Champion Pete Dunn and NXT North American Champion Ricochet based on their staredown at the end, along with a potential NXT Tag Team Titles match between The War Raiders and Undisputed Era (Strong and O'Reily).
Triple H says the main roster needs to step up their game for Survivor Series because NXT is bitting at their heels and knows the main roster can bring it to the table like only the WWE can. Hunter provides an update on Bobby Fish and says that Fish will be fine, no major setbacks to his surgically-repaired knee. He also confirms that Pete Dunn had been wrestling with a broken bone in his foot and needed time off in the weeks leading into tonight's show, but is said to be doing much better.
He closes the session out by praising the NXT roster, in general. The nice surprises added in, such as Riddle/Ohno.
What's next
Triple H is currently recovering from a torn pectoral muscle. Their is no timetable on when he will make his in-ring return but Hunter guarantees he will indeed be back.
In the meantime, Hunter continues to oversee NXT and is helping with producing the Survivor Series, which will air tomorrow night at 5pm(EST) starting with the kickoff show.
