WWE News: Triple H wasn’t initially a fan of the Festival of Friendship

What’s the story?

As revealed by Chris Jericho during a recent interview with Inside The Ropes, Triple H was not a fan of the idea behind the Festival of Friendship prior to it actually taking place on WWE Raw.

In case you didn’t know...

Y2J and Triple H haven’t always had the best of relationships, with many rumours flying around back in the day that made it seem as if they had heat with one another. In the present day, however, it seems as if the two have squashed that beef despite what this headline may lead you to believe.

The heart of the matter

During the interview below, Y2J made the following comments about Triple H’s stance on the issue.

“Triple H wanted Owens to just attack me out of nowhere. He said it was too long, and why wouldn’t he attack you earlier. I said that it was all about the drama, like the Red Wedding in Game of Thrones. I actually had to have a pretty heated debate with Hunter about that, and I like Hunter a lot. He’s a good friend of mine, this wasn’t a Jericho vs Hunter thing, that was done a long time ago.
I basically just said listen, I’ll call Vince right now, because this is the way to do it. I think he just kind of threw up his hands and said okay, and then afterwards he text me and said that was great.”

What’s next?

While Jericho continues to tear the house down over in Japan, it seems as if Triple H is gearing up for another run in the lead-up to WrestleMania. The Game is rumoured to be facing off against Kurt Angle in New Orleans.

Author’s take

It’s quite surprising to hear that Triple H wasn’t initially a fan of the angle, especially considering that most of WWE’s best on-screen moments as of late have taken place down in NXT.

If anything, it proves that Vince McMahon will always be a genius when it comes to the finer details.
