WWE News: Trish Stratus confirmed for RAW 25
WWE confirmed the return of Trish Status via TwitterWhat’s the story?
Well, RAW 25 is already looking pretty stacked with confirmed appearances from 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, The Dudley Boyz, APA, as well as the return of Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler to the announce table
Well, the latest announcement guarantees 100% Stratusfaction - as WWE has confirmed the return of the seven-time Women's Champion.
In case you didn’t know…
Trish Stratus joined the WWE in 2000 as a manager for Test and Albert but eventually moved to women’s division as an in-ring talent.
By the time she retired in 2006, as well as holding the aforementioned Women's Championship seven times, still holding the record for most reigns until this day, she was also a one-time Hardcore Champion.
Stratus became the youngest ever WWE Hall of Fame inductee in 2013 when she was inducted by Stephanie McMahon.
It had been rumoured that WWE wanted Stratus to face Asuka at NXT Takeover: Toronto for the NXT Championship, but Stratus was unable to compete as she was pregnant with her second child.
The heart of the matter
The announcement of Trish Stratus is a real coup for WWE. Not only is she widely thought of as one of the greatest women's wrestlers of all time, but she also tends to stay out of the limelight - only showing up for sporadic appearances at special events.
In fact, aside from a short appearance WWE Network special, WWE 24: Women's Evolution, we haven't actually seen Stratus in the WWE since she inducted Lita into the WWE Hall of Fame back in 2016.
As far as an appearance on WWE RAW, you need to go back to July 23rd, 2012 when Trish appeared on RAW's 1000th Episode.
However, WWE took to Twitter last night to confirm their latest acquisition for the anniversary show this week.
What's next?
Well, there had been many rumours that Trish Stratus may actually return for a one-off appearance at the inaugural Women's Royal Rumble later this month, but we're getting a dose of Stratusfaction early when Trish returns to RAW next week.
Author’s take
Well, this is incredibly exciting! Trish is one of the greatest of all time when it comes to women's wrestling and was pretty monumental in the history of RAW during the much-loved Attitude Era. With fans clamouring for a return, we can't wait to see what reaction she gets!
Who knows what capacity she'll return in? It could be a one-off appearance in a backstage segment or, fingers crossed, her confirming her appearance in the Women's Royal Rumble.
