WWE News: Trish Stratus talks about Paige's career-ending injury and her future
Paige was forced to give up on her in-ring career due to a neck injuryWhat's the story?
WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus was recently a guest on Lilian Garcia’s Chasing Glory Podcast and they discussed the injury to former Divas Champion, Paige, which forced her to retire from in-ring competition at just 25-years-old.
In case you didn’t know...
Back in December 2017, during a tag team match at a live event, Paige was struck in the back via a Sasha Banks front kick and the former fell to the ground immediately. The referee showed the dreaded “X” sign and Paige was unable to finish the match.
Later on, it was revealed that the injury was serious enough to end Paige’s career prematurely.
The heart of the matter
During the podcast with Garcia, Stratus said the injury was unfortunate but added that it is a part of the wrestling industry.
"It's a shame, but it goes with the territory, right? It is something that we go in and there is a risk that we take, and you put your body on the line every night. That is why it is so amazing to me.
Only a handful of people do what we do and only a handful of people can do what we do because you think of these people out there, we go out there willing to risk injury to entertain you guys, it's pretty crazy. When it happens it happens. It is unfortunate, but it goes with the territory though. You have to be aware of that as a superstar going in."

What’s next?
Since recovering from injury, Paige has worked with the WWE in a non-wrestling role, as a manager for Absolution.
WWE may continue to keep the star employed in such a role or even at the WWE Performance Center, given her love for professional wrestling.
Author’s take
It is admirable that Paige has taken the injury in stride and not let it pull her down. She has, and should continue working in the industry in whatever capacity possible.
