WWE News: Trish Stratus talks about pitching and approving angles in WWE, 'Diva' team and hesitance on Gravy Bowl match

Trish Stratus

Recently, WWE Hall of FameTrish Status appeared on Lillian Garcia’s podcast Making Their Way To The Ring. The entire podcast was divided into two parts, the second of which one was released today.

Here is the first part of the podcast, in case you didn’t get a chance to catch it before.

In the second part of this podcast, Stratus chooses to talk about pitching story angles in the WWE and actually getting them approved, what it was like to be a part of the ‘Diva’ team, and her hesitation to be a part of the Gravy Bowl match.

Stratus explains that she was particular but never picky while approving storylines.

"(Triple H) goes, I know you’re going to want to approve everything. He did the rolling eyes and I just laughed, because they know. Sometimes I go, I know I’m being a pain in the ass, but it’s a good pain in the ass. You’ll see. I wasn’t picky. I was particular. My whole thing was I was never going to say no. That was the problem in WWE. You can’t just go, No, I’m not doing that.”

The WWE Superstar also opened up about her initial hesitance on the famous Gravy Bowl match. She told her host, Lillian Garcia,

“I’ll never forget the match that me and Stacy (Kiebler) had. I was like, I looked at Finlay I was like, really? We’re on a roll and I’ve got to do gravy bowl match? Did they just make that up? Is it the first annual? Like, gravy in a bikini?”

However, she said that once it had all sunk in, the first time she heard a ‘Holy Sh*t’ chant, all the dipping in the gravy bowl seemed worth it after all. The Superstar also got candid about how she was completely and utterly glad to bid adieu to the term ‘Diva’. On being asked about it, she said,

“I never liked the Diva word. I never even used it. I would do my best to not call myself that, nor refer to the girls as that. There were times we had to, or it was on the teleprompter or whatever. But to me it just means a b***hy, over-needy person. Its just not at all what we do. Also, I didn’t like it that it separated us.”
