What’s the story?

The WWE has confirmed two huge championship matches for tonight’s episode of RAW.

WWE Intercontinental Champion Roman Reigns will defend his title against Samoa Joe with a special stipulation, whereas the Cruiserweight title will also be defended. Additional details on the upcoming tapings were also revealed.

In case you didn’t know…

Tonight’s edition of Monday Night RAW marks the first episode of the 2018 calendar year and will feature the Beast Incarnate and several other top Superstars will feature on the show.

The WWE usually reserves pivotal Championship clashes for its PPV events, however, given the first annual edition of RAW being a milestone of sorts, fans can expect a special show tonight.

The heart of the matter

The WWE has revealed that Roman Reigns will defend his WWE Intercontinental title against Samoa Joe; with the stipulation that if Reigns loses by way of Disqualification he’ll lose the title to Joe.

Tonight’s edition of RAW will reportedly focus on the The Beast's return for 2018’s first RAW, besides also featuring Cedric Alexander who'll challenge Enzo Amore for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.

Yet another burning question heading into RAW is whether Seth Rollins & Jason Jordan can co-exist as tag team partners. Addditionally, Hideo Itami's next opponent will also be revealed; as will the next Superstars to declare themselves for the Royal Rumble matches.

What’s next?

Tonight’s RAW will take place at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida.

The show will build up to one of the WWE’s most important events of the year—the Royal Rumble—which takes place later this month.

Author’s take

Roman Reigns is doing a commendable job of being a fighting champion.

Meanwhile, despite all the criticisms against him, Enzo Amore has improved considerably over the past few months but will face a stiff test in Cedric Alexander. Here’s looking forward to another great year of WWE events.
