What’s the story?

Following the latest set of NXT tapings at the Full Sail University, it has now been noted that the upcoming match card for WWE NXT TakeOver: Chicago II has been shaping as one of the most promising events of 2018 with two more major matches now been seemingly added to the final line-up for the pay-per-view.

In case you didn’t know…

The first NXT TakeOver: Chicago event was held on the 20th of May, 2017 at the Allstate Arena, in Rosemont, Illinois.

The match-card for TakeOver: Chicago included five matches, out of which four were championship bouts.

As noted, ‘The Bruiserweight’ Pete Dunne defeated Tyler Bate to capture the WWE UK Championship in the second contest of the evening, whereas, both Asuka and Bobby Roode successfully defended the NXT Women’s Championship and the NXT Championship respectively.

In the main event of that evening, the duo of Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano unsuccessfully challenged The Authors of Pain for the NXT Tag Team Championships.

However, after the match, Ciampa attacked Gargano by performing two running knee smashes and thus turning heel in the process and eventually was the beginning of the rivalry between the former NXT Tag Team Champions.

The heart of the matter

Earlier this week, in a recent report we noted that three top singles matches have now been confirmed to take place later next month at NXT TakeOver: Chicago II and following the latest set of NXT tapings (which is apparently the last set prior to NXT TakeOver: Chicago II), we now seem to have an idea of what the final match card for NXT TakeOver: Chicago II could look like.

As noted, at TakeOver: Chicago II, Undisputed Era members Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly will be defending their NXT Tag Team Titles against the underdog duo of Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch, who also recently signed a full-time contract with the WWE once again.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, another singles match which has also been confirmed for TakeOver: Chicago II is Ricochet vs The Velveteen Dream.

The two men who recently ignited their feud on NXT TV are now slated to get an opportunity to settle their differences inside the squared circle when they finally square-off in Chicago next month.

What’s next?

NXT TakeOver: Chicago II will take place on the 16th of June at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois.

Author’s Take

The TakeOver: Chicago II match card is definitely a very promising card and will certainly turn out to be another successful TakeOver event.
