What’s the story?

While recently speaking with interviewer Cathy Kelly in an exclusive interview, WWE NXT Superstar Tyler Bate weighed in his opinion on his recent injury, after learning the fact that he is not medically cleared to compete in this year’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

In case you didn’t know…

Earlier in the week, The Wrestling Observer first broke the news that former WWE UK Champion Tyler Bate had suffered a minor knee injury that forced him and his tag team partner Trent Seven—collectively known as The Moustache Mountain—to pull out from the on-going Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

Bate, who is the first ever WWE UK Champion, was scheduled to face-off against the duo of Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan in the first round of the Dusty Classic, along with his tag team partner Trent Seven.

The heart of the matter

In his interview with Cathy Kelly, Tyler Bate claimed that despite recently tweaking his knee the former WWE UK Champion thought that he could compete in the ring after all, but unfortunately, there have been no signs of improvement whatsoever and his knee hasn’t got better.

Additionally, Bate also noted that the WWE’s medical team has advised him to avoid in-ring competition for the next two weeks at least. Unfortunately, The Moustache Mountain now has to withdraw from the on-going Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament.

What’s next?

The finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic will take place on the 7th of April at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans and as noted, the duo of Bate and Seven have been replaced by the newly formed tag team of Pete Dunne and Roderick Strong.

Author’s Take

It is really unfortunate that the Moustache Mountain was forced to withdraw from the Dusty Classic in such an unusual manner. The duo of Bate and Seven were certainly favourites to win the entire tournament. We wish Tyler Bate a speedy recovery.
