WWE News: Tyson Kidd says he has no animosity towards Samoa Joe
What’s the story?
In a latest Twitter exchange earlier today, former three-time WWE Tag Team Champion Tyson Kidd stated that he has no animosity towards fellow WWE superstar Samoa Joe, who severely injured Kidd’s neck a few years ago forcing the Canadian superstar to retire from in-ring competition.
In case you didn’t know…
The final graduate of the infamous Hart Dungeon, Tyson Kidd is a former two-time WWE Tag Team Champion and former one-time WWE World Tag Team Champion as well. Kidd made his WWE debut back in 2006 as part of the company’s developmental territory of Deep South Wrestling and upon his main roster debut in 2009, Kidd started teaming up with David Hart Smith and Natalya Neidhart— as the trio were collectively known as The Hart Dynasty. Following Smith’s departure from WWE, Tyson Kidd formed a tag team with Cesaro and won the WWE Tag Team Championships on two different occasions.
In 2015, WWE confirmed the news that Tyson Kidd had suffered a severe neck injury due to a Muscle Buster from Samoa Joe during a dark match on Raw and several weeks later, WWE further announced that he would be out of action for over a year, following which Kidd tweeted that only 5% of people survive his injury and that he had 16 staples, four screws, and a rod inserted in his neck.
The heart of the matter
Earlier today, Tyson Kidd was involved in a Twitter altercation with a fan, who had allegedly blamed Samoa Joe for ending Kidd’s in-ring career. In his latest tweet, Kidd cleared the air regarding the current relationship between him and Samoa Joe as he stated that he has zero animosity towards the former NXT Champion.
Kidd further added, that he found Samoa Joe back at WWE on his first day after suffering the gruesome neck injury and claimed that both men also had a very good heart to heart conversation with each other. Lastly, Tyson Kidd also showed his gratitude towards Joe, by wishing him the best moving forward in his career.
What’s next?
In June of 2017, it was reported by Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE has hired Tyson Kidd as a full-time employee and the former WWE Tag Team Champion now works as a producer for the company.
Author’s take
It is a shame that Tyson Kidd’s wrestling career got cut short due to an unfortunate injury. However, at the end of the day we should keep in mind that it was nothing but an accident on Samoa Joe’s behalf.
