WWE News: Unseen footage of the Shield reuniting released
What's the story?
On Monday Night Raw, one of WWE's biggest modern-day stables reformed with Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns finally coming back together as the Shield. This proved to be one of the biggest moments in the year for the WWE, with only the return of the Hardy Boys at Wrestlemania garnering more views on YouTube.
However, the WWE has released alternate footage of the Shield's big day on Raw and it's pretty awesome.
In case you didn't know...
Let's be honest, if you're a wrestling fan there's no way you haven't heard about the Shield being back together, but let's just recap how their big reunion went down on the October 9th edition of the Monday Night Raw.
The Miz invited The Bar and Curtis Axel (Bo Dallas was conspicuously missing) to accept some 'Mizzie awards', but the award presentation was interrupted by Roman Reigns, who was quickly flanked by Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose.
The three hounds of justice quickly cleared the ring, but not before hitting the Miz with a triple-powerbomb and cementing a tables, ladders and chairs match at TLC against the Intercontinental Champion and the former tag-team champs Sheamus and Cesaro.
The Shield's evening didn't end there though, as they would return to confront Braun Strowman, complete with new Shield t-shirts. The 'Monster Among Men' tried to fight them but earned a triple-powerbomb through the announce table for his troubles (not a good week for announcing tables in the WWE). Strowman was then added to the TLC match making it a 4 vs 3 handicap match.
The heart of the matter
The new alternate video recap of the Shield's evening is yet another example of the stunning video package work that the WWE does. There are extreme camera angles and close-ups, excessive use of slow motion, and there's a great dramatic voice over and musical score. It's really very good, so if you've scrolled down the article without reading, stop now, head back up to the video and give it a watch.
What's next?
Unfortunately, all of this hype and excitement might not last for very long as there are rumours that the WWE doesn't have plans for the Shield to be together by next year, meaning we could be in store of a short-lived glimpse at the popular stable.
That being said, there are also rumours that they're about to receive new theme music so there's potentially a clear investment from the WWE in building the Shield up as much as possible and maybe because of that we'll see them stick around.
Author's take
It's been a really good week for WWE television with the excellent Hell in a Cell PPV, a stellar SmackDown Live and, of course, a Monday Night Raw that brought us the return of the Shield. Things are looking up!
