WWE News: Dixie Carter drops huge hint about EC3's WWE future
What’s the story?
As per PWInsider, EC3 is now free of his contract with Impact Wrestling.
WWE seems to be highly interested in signing EC3—a possibility that has now been further accentuated by EC3’s storyline aunt Dixie Carter—
In case you didn’t know…
EC3, whose real name is Michael Hutter, previously wrestled in the WWE from 2009-13 as Derrick Bateman.
However, his rise to prominence came after he was introduced in Impact Wrestling as Ethan Carter III—Dixie Carter’s nephew. Following this, he would go on to perform under the EC3 ring name until his departure from the promotion in 2017.
The heart of the matter
While EC3 returned to Impact Wrestling briefly last year, the former TNA World Heavyweight Champion has now parted ways with the promotion once again.
It’s being noted that EC3’s contract with Impact Wrestling has now expired, and he’s free to sign with any promotion he wishes. Pro-wrestling pundits believe that EC3 could sign with WWE anytime now.
Furthermore, Dixie Carter has maintained kayfabe on her official Twitter account and sent out good wishes to her nephew EC3. Carter asserted that she’s proud to be his aunt, EC3 is a special talent who deserves great things, and she’s excited for whatever his future holds, be it Impact Wrestling or the WWE.
What’s next?
The vast majority of professional wrestling experts believe that the WWE is interested in signing EC3, and the latter is also looking to work for the Vince McMahon-helmed promotion.
On the other hand, Dixie Carter sold off her majority stake in Impact Wrestling to Anthem Sports & Entertainment in January of last year and is now only a minority stakeholder in the company. Carter pursues interests outside professional wrestling today, however, still keeps in touch with the happenings in the business.
Author’s take
Dixie Carter has always been a genius businesswoman and took Impact Wrestling to great heights during her time at its helm.
Nevertheless, as the old adage goes—All good things must come to an end—Dixie Carter may have bid adieu to the sport of professional wrestling but the mutual love between the former TNA boss and the fans will always live on forever.
As for EC3, the 34-year-old has a bright future in the WWE, especially considering his athleticism and excellent mat wrestling skills.
