Backlash
will be live this Sunday

What's the story?

We are now past the go-home shows of Raw and SmackDown Live and the next official stop is WWE Backlash. With less than five days to go, we bring you the full updated match card for the event.

In case you didn’t know…

Backlash will be the first dual-branded show and, as announced by WWE, all upcoming PPVs shall feature matches from both Raw and SmackDown. This Sunday will be the first dual-branded Backlash since 2009.

The match card looks loaded with some exciting matches and feuds. Also, some feuds like Styles vs Nakamura will probably see their conclusion at the event.

The heart of the matter

As of this writing, Backlash will feature a total of eight matches, among which five matches will see Championships being defended. Here is a lost of all the matches announced for Sunday -

AJ Styles(c) vs Shinsuke Nakamura - No DQ match for the WWE Championship

Seth Rollins(c) vs The Miz - Intercontinental Championship

Jeff Hardy(c) vs Randy Orton - United States Championship

Nia Jax(c) vs Alexa Bliss - Raw Women's Championship

Carmella(c) vs Charlotte Flair - SmackDown Women's Championship

Samoa Joe vs Roman Reigns

Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn vs Braun Strowman & Bobby Lashley

Daniel Bryan vs Big Cass

There is no update on either the Raw or the SmackDown Tag Team titles being defended at the event.

What's next?

Backlash will emanate from the Prudential Centre in Newark, New Jersey on Sunday, May 5th. Stay tuned to Sportskeeda for more updates and live coverage of the event.

Author's take

It is disappointing that Bobby Lashley will only be in a tag team match in his first PPV back. Also, the Universal Champion not being defended at the show is disappointing, but as long as Brock Lesnar is the Champion, this is probably the way things will be.
