What's the story?

It seems the pro wrestling world has a unanimous love for the late, great WWE Hall of Famer Eddie Guerrero, as numerous wrestling stars have shared fond memories of the former WWE Champion since he passed away in 2005.

In a new interview conducted for The Payoff podcast, former WWE General Manager and widow of Eddie Guerrero, Vickie Guerrero, spoke specifically about Brock Lesnar's love of her late husband.

In case you didn't know...

Eddie Guerrero won his first WWE Title when he defeated then-WWE Champion Brock Lesnar at the 2004 No Way Out PPV. The Title reign was Guerrero's first and only run with the WWE Championship before he died tragically in November of 2005.

The feud with Brock Lesnar was particularly heated, as fans might recall Eddie Guerrero's real-life struggle with drug addiction being used as fodder for the on-screen feud with Brock Lesnar. Defenders of the angle noted the storyline was more about Guerrero's path to drug addiction recovery, and his rise as a top contender in WWE.

The heart of the matter

While speaking on The Payoff podcast, Vickie Guerrero opened up about Brock Lesnar's real-life relationship with Eddie Guerrero, and how much The Beast enjoyed working with Latino Heat.

"I talk to Brock [Lesnar], he loved Eddie," said Vickie. "[Brock] will just hug me and say, 'I still miss Eddie every day,' and that's something really special when I see Brock every now and then."

What's next?

Interestingly, following his feud with Eddie Guerrero, Brock Lesnar would go on to feud with Goldberg, which would end up being Lesnar's final feud before his first departure from the company.

As for Eddie Guerrero, following his Title win in 2004 he went on to feud with Kurt Angle, and the feud culminated in a match against Angle at WrestleMania XX, which saw Guerrero emerge victorious in his first Title defense.

Guerrero reigned as WWE Champion until June of 2004, when he lost his Title to John "Bradshaw" Layfield at The Great American Bash PPV.
