WWE News: Vince McMahon had a message for the Young Bucks before their ladder match with The Hardys
What’s the story?
The Hardys are back home in the WWE, but before they made their return, the brothers were dominating the independent circuit as one of the best Tag Teams in the world. As a result of capturing multiple titles across the professional wrestling indie scene, ‘ Team Extreme’ eventually found themselves embroiled in a feud with Ring Of Honor (ROH) Tag Team champions The Young Bucks.
The Hardys defeated the Young Bucks for the ROH Tag Titles and rematched in a ladder match (which they lost) at ROH’s Supercard Of Honor XI the night before their return to the company.
During a recent interview on “Edge And Christian’s Pod Of Awesomeness”, The Young Bucks revealed that WWE’s Vince McMahon apparently had a message for them before The Hardys’ last match prior to returning to the WWE.
In case you didn’t know...
The Hardys made their surprise return to the WWE in a Fatal Four Way Tag Team Ladder Match at Wrestlemania 33 earlier this month and won the RAW Tag Team Titles. It was one of the biggest pops of the entire night in Orlando.
The heart of the matter:
Prior to their match at ROH’ s Supercard Of Honor, Matt Jackson told Edge and Christian that Matt Hardy delivered a message to them from Vince McMahon, telling them to take care of his newly acquired stars before they return to the WWE
“We actually felt a lot of responsibility there too” Jackson told Edge and Christian. “We knew what they were doing the next night. We were two of the few guys in the world that actually knew about it.
Nobody else in Ring Of Honor that night knew about it except us. So we were like, ‘we can’t hurt these guys.’ What would that look like on us? […] That was defiantly weighing on our hearts. We were like ‘we gotta take care of these guys.’ They’ve got a big night tomorrow.”
“[Matt Hardy] comes up to the ring and he’s like, ‘Vince McMahon called me this morning and said, ‘hey I know these Young Buck kids are good, but could you please tell them to take care of you guys?””
What’s next?
The Hardys are set to defend their RAW Tag Team Titles against Sheamus and Cesaro at WWE Payback on pay-per-view (PPV) this weekend (Sun. April 30, 2017).
Author’s take
It was a very classy move from The Young Bucks to take The Hardys’ health into consideration prior to their return to the WWE.
The fact that they followed through on something McMahon asked them to do, despite the fact that they had no obligation to listen to anything he has to say given he is not their employer, has to sit well with ‘The Chairman Of The Board’ and could play into the Bucks’ favor if a WWE contract is to come down the line.
