WWE News: Vince McMahon returning to SmackDown Live
What's the story?
Vince McMahon is coming back to WWE television after not being seen since after WrestleMania. It takes a lot for Vince to make his way to the ring and he's addressing a very serious situation.
In case you didn't know...
Vince McMahon is Chairman Of The Board in WWE. He is the man in charge. He pulls the strings. He is essentially a puppet master and the WWE Universe is his gigantic playground.
Vince used to dominate the main story on Raw and SmackDown as Mr McMahon, a heel character. But he hasn't been seen in quite a while nor has he been a regular on his own show for awhile.
Shane McMahon and Kevin Owens have been butting heads as of late. Kevin has masterfully rebelled against authority and been at odds with Shane-O Mac. There have been a few finishes which Owens contests and Shane had a hand in each one.
Baron Corbin was Owens' hand-chosen referee for his United States Title Match and Shane ended up donning the referee shirt and making the count on KO. This outraged Kevin to no end and that was the last straw.
The heart of the matter
Last week, Kevin Owens pulled a referee's shirt off and put it on to count a quick pinfall on Sami Zayn after he took him out with a pop-up powerbomb, but Shane reversed the decision. This week Kevin came down and told the referee to give him his shirt so he could do the same thing but Shane came down to stop him.
After exchanging some words while cutting promos on each other, Kevin Owens brought up Shane's kids. McMahon didn't take that too well and told Kevin not to mention his kids ever again. Of course, Kevin had to mention Shane's kids again.
Shane McMahon couldn't contain himself and jumped Kevin Owens. He pummelled Owens and the two rolled over the announce table as Shane continued his assault.
Kevin was defeated in this surprise attack and unloaded on Daniel Bryan backstage as he threatened to sue WWE. Later on, Bryan got a phone call from Vince McMahon with orders to carry out in the ring.
Daniel Bryan then summoned Shane McMahon to the ring and indefinitely suspended the commissioner of SmackDown Live on Vince's orders.
During the closing segments of SmackDown Live, Daniel Bryan said Mr McMahon would be on the show next week in Las Vegas to personally address this situation.
What's next?
This is a nice change of pace in the story but it looks like the outcome might be Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon finally settling this score in the ring. After all, if they booked a Hell In A Cell Match between these two, it would be a familiar environment for Shane-O.
Author's take
Vince McMahon doesn't show up very often, but when he does, he usually has something pretty big to announce. Since this announcement has something to do with his baby boy, who knows what he could have up his sleeve?
