What's the story?

On October 30, 2017, Vince McMahon took to Twitter in order to wish Edge, who turned 44, a happy birthday.

In case you didn't know...

After an in-ring career spanning almost 19 years, Edge retired from professional wrestling in 2011 after successfully defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Alberto Del Rio at WrestleMania 27. The Rated-R Superstar won a multitude of titles, including 11 World Championships, during his WWE run — which resulted in a Hall of Fame induction in 2012.

The heart of the matter

Ever since his retirement from professional wrestling, Edge has primarily focused on his acting career, securing a recurring role on Haven — a drama series loosely based on Stephen King's mystery The Colorado Kid.

He also had a show on the WWE Network with long-time friend Christian titled The Edge & Christian Show that Totally Reeks of Awesomeness. The former WWE Tag-Team Champions now host their own podcast, E & C's Pod of Awesomeness.

Edge and Christian still make sporadic appearances on WWE Television

Author's take

While their characters were a little over-the-top, Edge and Christian were a very entertaining tag-team. The Rated-R Superstar also had a tremendous singles run; he was easily one of the best heels in WWE history. Superstars such as Triple H and Randy Orton were handed more opportunities, but they were simply never as good as Edge.
