The extremely opinionated Wade Barrett was talking WWE again

What’s the story?

Former WWE Intercontinental Champion and Nexus leader, Wade Barrett, recently spoke to SPORTbible on a number of topics, including if he feels WWE misuses talent.

In case you didn’t know…

This, WWE misusing talent, is a subject Wade should be very familiar with as it is something he has been a victim to.

After winning the first reality-style series of NXT, the WWE Universe had high hopes for Wade Barrett. He was given a strong push right off the bat as the leader of WWE's hottest new angle, the Nexus. At one point it was heavily rumoured Barrett would defeat Randy Orton for the WWE Championship at Survivor Series 2010, but plans changed for whatever reason.

Barrett would wrestle in the mid-card for the rest of his WWE career before departing in 2016. he would become a five-time WWE Intercontinental Champion.

The heart of the matter

While promoting Defiant Wrestling, Wade Barrett spoke to SPORTbible. Among the questions, Barrett was asked if he feels that WWE misuses talent, and gave a mixed response. Barrett said:

''They [WWE] misuse a lot of guys, there's a lot of guys you could do more with but at the end of the day they pick the guys they want to go with and go with them. I don't think they purposely sabotage, I think there are limited spots to be at the top of the card or the highlighted guys - there are probably seven or eight guys where it's like, 'Ok these are our main guys going forward for the next six to twelve months' and they need to be the guys getting the biggest reactions, being involved in the biggest storylines and stuff like that."

Barrett goes on to say that the main problem lies in the limited number of spots available.

What’s next?

Wade Barrett hasn't been wrestling much lately. He currently serves as the general manager of the UK's Defiant Wrestling

Author’s take

I have to agree with Barrett here. I do believe that WWE misuses a lot of talent, but at the same time they are not purposely sabotaging them. WWE only have so many spots to fill at the one time. Somehow, the ultra-talented Wade Barrett fell out of favour too at the company.
