WWE News: What happened after Fastlane went off the air?
What's the story?
The last stop on the road to WrestleMania 34, Fastlane is now behind us. The show had a few surprises, some lacklustre matches and concluded with an excellent main event. Now WWE have released a video showing what exactly happened after the cameras stopped rolling.
In case you didn’t know…
WWE Fastlane was the last pay-per-view before WrestleMania and the show successfully set up a number of matches for the WrestleMania card.
Asuka made her decision known to the WWE Universe by challenging Charlotte for her Championship at New Orleans. AJ Styles retained the WWE Championship, effective confirming the dream match between himself and Shinsuke Nakamura at the 'show of shows'.
Also, the tension between Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and Shane McMahon elevated to fever pitch, as Owens inadvertently super kicked Shane O'Mac, who later cost both KO and Zayn the match.
The heart of the matter
After the cameras stopped rolling, John Cena and AJ Styles remained in the ring for a few more minutes, as seen in the video uploaded by WWE. The 16-time World Champion was visibly frustrated after being unsuccessful yet again in stamping a ticket to WrestleMania, even shoving away the camera which was closing up on him after the match.
The leader of Cenation congratulated Styles on his victory and went on to raise his hand, thus showing his appreciation for the Phenomenal One. He left the ring soon after, giving away his armbands and the like to a few young fans while walking back up the ramp.
What's next?
With WrestleMania less than a month away, the rest of the card will take shape in the weeks to come. After Fastlane, it now looks like the US Championship picture will include Jinder Mahal in addition to Bobby Roode and new Champion Randy Orton.
Also, after the Bludgeon Brothers attacked both The Usos and The New Day, the feud will probably culminate in a multi-team match for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania. Unfortunately, Rusev is still directionless.
Author's take
It is heavily rumoured that John Cena vs The Undertaker is still happening at WrestleMania this year. If that is the case, it is about time the WWE starts building up the feud.
