WWE News: What happened after SmackDown Live went off the air (11 April, 2017)
What’s the story?
Shinsuke Nakamura and Dolph Ziggler were part of an untelevised main event match after Smackdown Live went off-air that saw the King of Strong Style pick up the victory against the Show Off.
In case you didn't know...
Nakamura and Dolph Ziggler were part of an untelevised match after SmackDown Live, last week too. Nakamura picked up the victory in his first main roster appearance during the match.
This week’s dark match was the aftermath of the segment between Dolph Ziggler and Shinsuke Nakamura during SmackDown. Dolph Ziggler even spoke at length about Nakamura on Talking Smack, immediately following SmackDown Live. He sensed a big money fight and was keen on giving it to the fans.
The heart of the matter
The match went on for a little less than ten minutes, and Nakamura picked up the victory with his trademark Kinshasa. The crowd was loud and vocal about their support for Nakamura and they counted along for the pinfall. A bootleg video of the entire dark segment can be seen below.
While the video quality isn’t great, it does manage to capture the excitement in the arena, when the match actually transpired.
What’s next?
Clearly, Dolph Ziggler is set to be Shinsuke Nakamura’s first opponent in the main roster, in the foreseeable future. Like Dolph Ziggler mentioned on Talking Smack, this is a match that will either main event an episode of SmackDown Live or end up being Shinsuke Nakamura's first main roster PPV appearance.
The two men are learning to work with one another, prepping for the big moment.
Author’s take
Nakamura has the charisma, the intensity, the drive and the talent to be the company’s next big breakout star. I join the whole world in hoping that he succeeds and changes sports entertainment forever.
